Majie Alford Failey began her career on The Indianapolis News after attending Pine Major Junior College in Wellesley, MA and Indiana University. She was a greenhorn reporter on the society desk, before becoming Society Editor in the late forties. She continued her journalistic career by serving as special correspondent to The News, writing stories from Japan and The Americas Cup races.

Majie Failey gives us the only history extant of The Indianapolis News. She was Society Editor in the 1950s and touches on past history as well as greats like W. Phillipi, Gene Pulliam, Jr. and Fremont Powers and Bill Wildhack. She also covers Indianapolis social history, including the Blue Book and Dramatic Club. Updates by Nelson Price.
