The Martin Guards: C Company of the Fourteenth Indiana Regiment in the Civil War
The Martin Guards left this southern Indiana county in 1861 and fought through the major battles of the East: Antietam, Fredericksburg. Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, the Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor.
The book is the only Civil War company history available in Indiana. It contains background area and family histories and letters; C Company monthly reports (first time published); and history of the group which went to Mt. Pleasant schoolhouse and then enlisted—and fought together.
Illustrations by Richard Day of Vincennes. Many photos.
